Location: Onsite Jacksonville, FL

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8-5



Work you will perform:


Assists in the selection and performance monitoring of Landstar approved inspection vendors. Provides technical support for the Equipment Compliance Department.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Review third party vendors (new or existing) to contract requirements for performing periodic inspections on Landstar leased equipment.
  • Negotiate rates with vendors up to predetermined monetary limits
  • Train, verify and audit third party inspector's certifications as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Identify serious equipment violations that could create exposure and liability with unsafe equipment


  • Monitor Landstar approved inspection vendors to ensure quality vehicle inspections and compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Compile and Interpret data and make recommendations to canceling vendor contracts when warranted
  • Conduct analysis to evaluate vendor performance
  • Assist in developing content and in conducting inspection seminars as needed for potential inspection vendors, existing vendors, and Landstar employees
  • Maintain required paperwork for inspection vendor files in accordance with DOT requirements
  • Travel as needed; to conduct vendor compliance reviews, vehicle inspections, for industry related conferences and compliance/safety meetings
  • Other duties as assigned



Required Minimum Experience and Education:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience with government mandated vehicle repairs and inspections



Preferred Experience and Education:



  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent experience
  • One year of experience with DOT rules and regulations (FMCSA)



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Detail oriented for record keeping
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations
  • Ability to manage vendors
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • PC skills preferred, MS Office 365
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective presentation skills
