Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

Location: 50 West San Fernando Street, Suite 1800, San Jose, CA 95113

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from The Trade Desk, Inc. office in San Jose, CA.

Job Duties: Collaborate with Product Managers and cross-functional engineering teams to elicit, analyze, and document comprehensive software requirements, translating them into detailed architectural and design specifications for the development of new software applications and product functionalities. Lead the full software development lifecycle, encompassing project planning, execution, and deployment, for complex software engineering projects in programmatic advertising and Unified ID 2.0 open-source identity solution with a focus on the implementation and delivery of enhancements and features. Conduct comprehensive debugging, troubleshooting, and code remediation for production-level Unified ID 2.0 software services across a diverse technology stack, including Java, C#, Python, C++, and JavaScript, ensuring optimal system stability and performance. Drive the design, development, and end-to- end ownership of scalable, high-performance systems across the core components of a large-scale Demand Side Platform (DSP), including real-time bidding infrastructure, campaign APIs, reporting systems, audience targeting, and data pipelines. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior software engineers, fostering their professional development through code reviews, architectural consultations, and constructive feedback on their technical contributions. Provide critical production support for deployed software applications, participating in on-call rotation to diagnose, resolve, and mitigate high-priority technical incidents and ensuring minimal system downtime. Author public-facing documentation to help external clients effectively understand, integrate with, and utilize the Unified ID 2.0 APIs and SDKs. Engage with industry partners and key customers at a technical level to provide deep insights and advice into the Unified ID 2.0 integration best practices and speed up adoption.

Salary: $264,514 - $274,700/year

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or related role. Must have seven (7) years of experience with: Commercial development in Object-Oriented programming and design; Agile development methodology and development practices; Distributed source control system, including Git; Developing software for real-time distributed systems in programmatic advertising domain; Real-time bidding infrastructure, budget optimization for a large-scale Demand Side Platform (DSP); Building advertising campaigns and reporting APIs, audience targeting, and data pipelines for a Demand Side Platform (DSP); and software development code editors, including IntelliJ Idea and PyCharm. Must have five (5) years of experience with: developing with a variety of platforms and technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, .NET Core, and Java; and Designing Web-based and Service-Oriented systems.

CO, CA, IL, NY, WA, and Washington DC residents only: In accordance with CO, CA, IL, NY, WA, and Washington DC law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. $264,514 $274,700 USD
