OVERVIEW:

This position helps in a variety of ways. It provides and maintains cleanliness, order and readiness to serve the Corps, Administration, Family Services and Gabelcrest buildings. This includes the grounds around each maintaining and improving appearance. Also, to maintain readiness of our Disaster Services Canteen.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Ensure floors and walkways remain clear of all tripping hazards.
  • Weekly clean, sweep, mop, and/or vacuum Floors and walkways as necessary.
  • Weekly clean, sweep, mop, stock, and sanitize all restrooms.
  • Empty trash weekly or as necessary.
  • Clean designated building areas both inside and outside.
  • Keep the lawn looking good [including watering, seeding and cutting].
  • Set up rooms for various meetings and activities.
  • Ensure unused areas of the building(s) are locked for safety.
  • Monitor janitorial supplies and when low, let Finance and HR coordinator know.
  • Transport self to different work locations as necessary.
  • Receive daily instruction and priority list from building manager (site dependent).
  • Start and warm up the Disaster Services vehicle each month to maintain readiness.
  • Report damage and related issues and assist in coordinating repairs.
  • Unlock to provide access to trash and recycle bins on appointed days, then relock.
  • Be informed of and maintain a printed copy of the MSDS sheets at each building.
  • Learn and follow all health, safety regulations, and chemical storage best practices.
  • Drive for self-transport, pick-ups, deliveries, and hauling as assigned or needed.
  • Other related duties as required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • High school diploma or equivalent (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in Janitorial services a plus
  • CA Driver's License (required)


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Must develop foresight to anticipate problems and show initiative to solve same.
  • Must have and be willing to build knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals and appliances.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to complete a task, reshelve equipment and make the area presentable.
  • Must maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Must proactively communicate with building supervisor and staff to minimize disruptions.


  • Ability to read and follow verbal and/or written instructions from a supervisor.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions on the various chemical bottles and MSDS sheets.
  • Ability to Learn and use relevant office equipment.
  • Have the ability to take initiative (especially with safety related issues).
  • Should be able to work as a member of a team.


EQUIPMENT USED:



  • Relevant janitorial and maintenance equipment and supplies


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
