Job Description:

The Supervisor of Quality Control oversees and coordinates all inspection activities, ensuring efficient workflow of materials and parts through in-process, final, and incoming inspections. This role provides clear work direction and guidance to assigned personnel, implements quality standards, and maintains comprehensive procedures and quality manual systems. Additionally, the Supervisor conducts performance reviews and facilitates ongoing training to support continuous improvement and compliance with quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates written data from sales orders, budgets, product specifications, operation travelers, parts and material inventory lists, and machine and worker production rates, to establish efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, machines, and sequences of operations and workflow.
  • Develops, reviews and maintains master inspection schedule.
  • Develops and maintains material delivery schedules that maintain established product delivery dates using material lead times that include special testing, preparation or packaging requirements.
  • Maintains production budgets, including "Material Estimate to Complete" data.
  • Distributes work orders to functions, denoting number, type, and proposed completion date of units to be produced.
  • Confers with manufacturing, engineering and planning to resolve problems affecting production and delivery schedules.
  • Determines work schedules and expedites workflow.
  • Maintains and enforces company required and standard operating policies and procedures that include, but are not limited to ESD, contamination control, traceability, MSDS and safety.
  • Develops and administers performance reviews, assign improvement goals, monitor performance to goals and recommend wage adjustments or advancement per company standard policy to assigned personnel.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Interviews and screens prospective material and production control personnel to divisional standard operating practices.
  • Maintains harmony among assigned workers and resolves grievances.
  • Maintains attendance records and dispenses disciplinary action, as required, in accordance with company policies.
  • May be asked to perform other duties not outlined in this description.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BA degree, trade school or better, in Relay and Power products.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience in the Defense or Aerospace Electronic Manufacturing environment, with the last 3 years hands-on material/production control and stockroom in an electronics manufacturing area.
  • A9100, IPC-A-610 & IPC-J-STD-001 knowledge
  • Proficiency in manufacturing ERP and quality tools and software, Microsoft Dynamics Axapta preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints, schematics, drawings, parts lists, SOW, specifications, military specifications and other documentation pertaining to the inspector team of a product.
  • A team player with the ability to interact with all other functions including manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and other computer peripherals in a professional environment.

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $64,480-$117,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
