The Laryngeal Biology Laboratory at Saint Louis University is searching for an Assistant Research Professor with extensive experience in laboratory techniques including western blotting, PCR, RT-PCR, real-time PCR, cell culture, isolation and purification of DNA and proteins, animal surgery, microscopy, and immunohistochemistry. The position will provide oversight and technical expertise in the use of preclinical models, cell culture, data collection, and the day to day activities of a federally funded research laboratory. The Assistant Research Professor will provide training and technical assistance to research staff on the troubleshooting of experimental protocols. The position will be responsible for the development and/or modification of existing methodology and protocols and interpretation of experimental results. The position will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of testing and oversee routine and complex experiments conducted in the laboratory. The position will be responsible for working with institutional business offices and the institutional animal care and use committee to facilitate research activities and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. The position will be responsible for the ordering of reagents, primers, antibodies and all supplies necessary for successful execution of laboratory experiments. The position will support the PI with the preparation and submission of experimental protocols and amendments. The position will be responsible for handling and storing specimens, homogenization and isolation of RNA, and real-time PCR experiments. The position will be responsible for the testing of new reagents and antibodies. The position will contribute to the development of manuscripts, data analyses, and critical review of publication and dissemination efforts. The position is externally grant funded; therefore, continuing employment is contingent on funding. Preferred qualifications include: Earned Doctoral degree and evident of research ability.
