We are seeking a Network Engineer Contractor with strong expertise in wireless site surveys, network infrastructure assessments, and hands-on remediation. The role will be remote-based but requires extensive travel to client sites. This position is best suited for a highly motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong technical skills in wired and wireless networking, who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities *Conduct comprehensive wireless site surveys using Ekahau or equivalent professional tools. *Perform physical audits of existing network infrastructure, including cabling, switches, firewalls, and access points. *Document network topology, cabling, and hardware configurations across all assigned sites. *Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams using industry-standard software (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart). *Maintain accurate records of network assets and configurations. *Identify coverage gaps, interference sources, and optimization opportunities in wireless networks. *Provide actionable recommendations for both wired and wireless network improvements. *Collaborate closely with the Network Architect and L2 Engineers to review findings and execute remediation activities. *Partner with controls, engineering, and smart factory teams to troubleshoot and resolve production-related connectivity issues. *Propose and implement solutions related to Cisco LAN, FortiGate firewalls, and Aruba wireless infrastructure. ________________________________________ Qualifications & Skills Required *5+ years of experience in network engineering, with hands-on expertise in LAN/WLAN design and troubleshooting. *Proven experience conducting wireless site surveys (Ekahau proficiency strongly preferred). *Strong knowledge of Cisco switching and routing technologies. *Experience with Aruba wireless systems and FortiGate firewalls. *Proficiency in documenting networks and creating detailed topology diagrams. *Ability to perform onsite physical infrastructure assessments. *Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach. *Strong written and verbal communication skills to document findings and interact with stakeholders. *Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 80-90%). Preferred *Experience working in manufacturing environments or industrial facilities. *Familiarity with smart factory systems and integration challenges. *Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, Ekahau ECSE, NSE for FortiGate). ________________________________________ Contract Details *Location: Remote, must reside near a major U.S. airport. *Travel: Nationwide + Canada (expenses covered). *Engagement: Contractor, project-based. TEKsystems Global Manufacturing customer is in need of an experienced Network Engineer to help with a Network Modernization and Life cycle Management initiative related to an upgrade of their SAP environment. This organization has roughly 20 Manufacturing sites that houses Network equipment responsible for each sites technology. Some of the equipment is older and some new. Part of this will be standardizing the sites to match up. This will include a huge focus on their wireless connectivity with Aruba and leveraging Ekahau as the tool to do wireless site surveys. This resource will work with the Network Manager and partner with their Technology engineering and controls teams to do site surveys, look at cabling, equipment, power, etc. They will need to diagram out the sites current and what future should look like along with clean understanding of all assets. From there, they will work and coordinate with the controls team to replace and modernize. Our customer is flexible with how this is done and will be a minimum 6 month engagement with possibility to extend and after 12 months even possible to convert FTE. Customer is thinking first 12 ish weeks this person can travel and do the site surveys and then coordinate with controls teams and a 3rd party vendor to execute on the upgrades. The best resource for this role will have 5 plus years experience with Cisco Network Engineering in a Manufacturing setting (Understanding site technology for manufacturing and have done similar) experience with Aruba Wireless and Fortigate Firewalls. They also must have experience with Ekahau for wireless site surveys. They also have a varying amount of Automation tools and technology that would be a plus.
