TITLE: Senior Director, Marketing REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Senior Vice President, Membership, Marketing & Sales BASIC FUNCTION: Drive the strategic vision and execution of integrated marketing initiatives to enhance the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) brand presence, member and customer engagement, and overall revenue growth. Champion digital transformation and marketing innovation through data-driven strategies, experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration. Partner closely with the public affairs, publishing, education, and global health teams to raise awareness of key AAP products, programs, services, and solutions to bring the AAP mission to life. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develop and execute AAP's integrated marketing strategy to elevate brand positioning, increase awareness, drive engagement and actively generate revenue through targeted initiatives. 2. Oversee the creation and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, social, experiential, and content platforms. 3. Supervise and mentor assigned staff. Encourage a work environment that promotes inclusion and belonging of all staff. Support ongoing staff development, help set objectives, evaluate performance, and promote and enhance staff capacity in skills necessary to achieve goals. Ensure staff operate in a fiscally prudent manner, maintain confidentiality, operate with the highest ethical standards, and provide excellent service to members and volunteers. 4. Define AAP's external positioning, messaging, and value proposition in collaboration with internal stakeholders. 5. Lead event marketing and experiential activations, ensuring memorable, on-brand experiences that support AAP's business objectives. 6. Monitor and analyze marketing metrics, applying data-driven insights to refine messaging, optimize channels, and drive ROI. 7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including public affairs, publishing, education, global health, and sales to ensure cohesive marketing efforts. Update stakeholders on key initiative wins and opportunities, respond to concerns, and solicit feedback. Engage leadership to develop and execute action plans to address gaps. 8. Maintain ownership of commerce branding guidelines and style guide, partnering with the Senior Director of Sales and Business Development to develop B2B branding and sales identity. 9. Develop and oversee assigned budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximizing return on investment, by reviewing and auditing expenses; reviewing reports to determine performance against budget; and monitoring performance against revenue goals. 10. Champion change to ensure brand and business initiatives are implemented and communicate follow-up actions to team as necessary. 11. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline required. MBA or related master's degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: At least 7 years' related and progressive experience leading and managing marketing and/or brand communications, including developing and executing high-impact, multi-channel marketing strategies with culturally resonant campaigns; analyzing data and market trends to inform strategic decisions; building brand presence in a competitive landscape; representing brands at events and conferences; and optimizing technology to enhance visibility and engagement. Experience supervising staff and leading cross-functional teams required. Experience in the medical or healthcare association sector is highly desirable. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Must be a proactive and strategic communicator with expertise in storytelling and developing compelling narratives and creative ideations, as well as an exceptional leader of creative professionals able to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment. Excellent team management, interpersonal, critical thinking, decision making, negotiation, budgeting and forecasting, and presentation skills required. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, deep knowledge of digital marketing strategies and tools (e.g., CRM systems and analytics platforms), and the ability to learn and apply new technologies to advance work initiatives; familiarity with document collaboration sites (e.g., SharePoint) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., WebEx, Teams) preferred. Must be able to manage multiple and competing priorities within established deadlines, lead cross-functional teams, take initiative, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to fostering a culture where everyone feels valued and respected. Some travel and evening/weekend work required, along with the need for flexibility in arranging work schedule to accommodate physicians' availability. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $149,038.48 - $157,318.46. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, and organizational policies. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
