Job Summary

Reporting to the Database Administrator III. Assists in the creation, management, maintenance, and support of various database management systems that meet operational requirements. Assists in regularly testing procedures and implementing plans to safeguard database assets. Aids in auditing and monitoring database activities to ensure data integrity. Collaborate with management to develop database strategies that align with and support organizational goals.

  • Database Administrator for the OCMS (Owners Construction Management System) e-Builder software. This includes configuring software, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, implementing security protocols, resolving technical problems, and ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data.
  • Assists in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of all integrations between our applications and other university systems. This includes understanding both the connection methods between the different data servers and the data structures of existing installed software (Maximo, SMS, EMS, OCMS e-Builder, MyFacilities Portal, Surveillance, PeopleSoft, FAMIS, CBORD, HR, AD, etc.).
  • Assists in designing, configuring, testing, implementing, and maintaining the Facilities Management Departments databases across development, testing, and production environments, based on departmental needs.
  • Assists in monitoring SQL performance and tuning application queries as needed. Supports the management of database servers, including the operating systems on which they run. Helps ensure databases maintain optimal performance and participates in system upgrades and patching. Contributes to establishing and maintaining high database security standards to meet compliance requirements such as PII, PCI, HIPAA, and PHI. Assists in planning and coordinating data migrations between systems, while supporting database security and auditing efforts.
  • Provides technical support to application development teams within the Facilities Management Department.
  • Provides assistance in designing and deploying data table structures, forms, reports, and queries. Supports the administration of all database objects, including users, tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages, and procedures. Contributes to the development and implementation of data dashboards to present information in various formats, enhancing data visualization and decision-making.
  • Troubleshoots any issues regarding the databases, applications, and development tools. Automates general housekeeping activities to minimize maintenance overhead of production environments.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining database stored procedures, views, and functions to support hosted web applications. Supports impact analysis of changes made to database objects to ensure system integrity and performance.
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation. Produces ad-hoc queries and develops reports to support business needs; Monitors performance and performs database tuning; Plans, configures, maintains, and supports database backups and replication procedures.
  • Regularly reviews logs, system sizing, and performance metrics to plan and implement proactive maintenance and support.
  • Collaborates with the Database Administrator III to interpret departmental rules and policies related to information systems and recommends new or enhanced programs to improve the effectiveness of information systems functions.
  • Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other university emergency closing, and is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
