Job Summary

Serves as Libraries primary representative for all facilities and security issues for both campuses by working with Library administration and appropriate FIU departments.

  • Manages and oversees major building projects for both Green and Hubert Libraries. Works with Facilities Management to ensure maintenance, repairs, and other projects are completed in a timely manner. Follows up with vendors and Library staff when appropriate.
  • Serves as the principal point of contact and liaison to the Facilities Management Department for the proper maintenance of university property. Coordinates the processing of all departmental contracts and arranges for their implementation. Acts as liaison between vendors and the university relating to contractual matters. Collaborates with administrators and other department heads on projects with regard to vendors; assists or delegates to acquire vendor provided quotes and information for administrative projects.
  • Manages and coordinates all aspects of the maintenance and upkeep of the Green and Hubert Libraries by soliciting input from Facilities, initiating work orders, scheduling cleaning projects, and assisting with minor building projects. Provides Dean and Administrative staff with monthly status reports on building issues.
  • Coordinates with Facilities for work orders, key control, signage, and other building related matters.
  • Interprets security laws, regulations, and contract requirements; directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; and maintains relationships with university law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and other issuers of security requirement.
  • Oversees incident reporting procedures for the Libraries and security incident response planning and investigation of breaches; assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches.
  • Evaluates functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments; identifies problems and requirements.
  • Collaborates with relevant departments to ensure library security, including operation and maintenance of Green Library turnstiles and guest services desk.
  • Assists and directs staff and/or interns, in support and guidance of periodic events. Assists with the Libraries exhibits installation and upkeep by supervising work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Supervises Libraries security staff to ensure that the Libraries complies with Emergency Operations Management policies and procedures.
  • Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closures with appropriate notification by department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years of operational or related experience; OR six (6) of years operational or related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
