OverviewThe Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Serverless team is building the next generation of cloud application platforms-and we're looking for passionate front-end engineers to help shape the future of developer experiences on Azure. As part of Microsoft's CoreAI organization, we're focused on delivering intelligent, scalable, and intuitive cloud platforms that power web apps, APIs, and microservices at global scale. Our team builds and maintains the portal management experiences for some of Azure's most popular PaaS and Serverless services-including App Service, Functions, and Container Apps-which together power a wide range of modern web application scenarios. As a Software Engineer II - Front-End, you'll play a key role in building engaging, performant, and accessible user experiences that help developers and Information Technology (IT) pros manage their applications with confidence and ease. You'll work closely with designers, PMs, and backend engineers to build features used daily by thousands of Azure customers. We build and support key pieces of the Azure developer experience, including: Azure App Service - a fully managed platform for hosting web apps and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), with support for .NET, Node.js, Python, and more, across Windows and Linux. Azure Functions - an event-driven, serverless compute platform ideal for APIs, background jobs, and lightweight automation. Azure Container Apps - a modern service for running microservices and containerized workloads with built-in scaling, powered by cloud-native technologies like KEDA and Dapr. Together, these services form a powerful platform for building cloud-native apps-made even more capable by our integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI) services and tooling, enabling intelligent diagnostics, proactive recommendations, and productivity-enhancing features directly within the Azure portal. We're tackling exciting technical challenges in portal architecture, performance, accessibility, design systems, and the infusion of AI into end-to-end user workflows. ResponsibilitiesAs a Software Engineer II, you'll take on more complex technical challenges, lead feature areas from design through implementation, and contribute to shaping the long-term architecture of our portal experiences.We are looking for an experienced front-end engineer to join our close-knit, fast-moving team. You'll write high-quality, maintainable code and have deep involvement in all stages of product development-from customer feedback and prototyping to performance tuning and production readiness. You'll also have the opportunity to use AI-powered tools to accelerate development and build or integrate AI services directly into our products-enhancing diagnostics, recommendations, and the overall developer experience. You'll play a key role in fostering a culture of engineering excellence through design reviews, mentoring other engineers, and driving best practices in front-end development. This is a hands-on role where you'll have plenty of opportunity to do what you love-solve hard problems, build great user experiences, and continuously grow as an engineer.
