*The range provided is based on cost of living/geography and what we believe is reasonable in the market at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for annual bonus and annual merit increase, as well as long term compensation. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors.

How You'll Perform the Role

The Transportation Carrier Manager, LTL owns the company's Less-Than-Truckload transportation strategy, managing procurement and performance to ensure cost efficiency, service excellence, and continuous improvement. The Carrier Manager will provide transportation leadership in the development and management of carrier relationships across the Novolex network. The Carrier Manager will provide data driven insights, fiscal responsibility, maintain carrier KPIs/scorecarding and be responsible for driving increased capacity and high service levels from our carrier base. This will require an individual who is a self-starter, thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves numbers and has a "Can Do" mentality when working with carriers and the Novolex team.



  • Responsible for carrier management and procurement of LTL business
  • Develop and manage LTL sourcing strategies
  • Partner with local distribution teams to optimize order flow and promote on-time delivery
  • Analyze cost-to-serve performance and continually optimize costs via timely RFPs and operational programs
  • Identify LTL pooling / LTL consolidation opportunities and partner with operational teams to execute
  • Build strategic partnerships with key carriers, with contacts across multiple levels in their organization
  • Research and qualify new carriers based on asset size, modes and regions covered.
  • Facilitate strategies to drive down cost and/or improve service
  • Negotiate carrier pricing
  • Help in the development and execution of RFPs and carrier bid events
  • Manage carrier capacity and drop pools
  • Create and monitor routing guides for transportation planners to execute against
  • Ensure accurate pricing and capacities are uploaded into the TMS rate system
  • Working with business teams and carriers to improve service to meet expected goals
  • Provide guidance and supervision for transportation and warehouse leadership
  • Create and maintain daily/weekly/monthly service KPIs and scorecards for carrier review
  • Collect, analyze and manage quantitative data from various sources (TMS, TDW, Tableau, SAP) and create performance metrics and ad hoc reporting that lead to service improvements
  • Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control


What We Need From You

  • BA/BS in logistics or related field with 5+ year's previous business experience, preferably in supply chain, transportation, procurement, or warehousing with 3+ years LTL specific experience.
  • Strong knowledge of LTL pricing, freight classification, and carrier networks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills; strict attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Previous experience with JDA-TMS and Bidding software preferred.
  • High analytical ability desired and strong front line management skills to lead a group of people toward a goal.
