Description

The Senior Manager of Quality Control is responsible for key risk management and continuous improvement activities in Bank Operations at Atlantic Union Bank. The ideal candidate will have exceptional knowledge in Bank Operations processing and understanding of the regulatory environment impacting operational processes in Deposit & Treasury Management Services, Payment Operations and Loan Operations. The position is responsible for building strong partnerships with the first line of defense risk manager, compliance, and leadership across the organization; managing regulatory change; leading process optimization and automation efforts; overseeing quality reviews; and developing risk response strategies. This position serves an important role to ensure Bank Operations units are effectively identifying, managing, monitoring, and controlling risks within the Atlantic Union Bank risk management framework.

Position Accountabilities



  • Develop and implement quality control frameworks for banking operations, including transaction processing, account maintenance, loan servicing, and customer onboarding.
  • Monitor operational activities to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards (e.g., OCC, FDIC, CFPB), and industry best practices.
  • Lead quality audits and reviews across operational units to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risks.
  • Collaborate with compliance, risk, and internal audit teams to address findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze operational data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and areas for improvement. Ensure use of quantitative and qualitative data to measure outcomes.
  • Design and deliver training programs to promote a culture of quality and compliance.
  • Maintain documentation of quality control procedures, audit results, and remediation plans.
  • Support digital transformation and automation initiatives by ensuring quality standards are embedded in new systems and workflows.
  • Serve as a liaison between operations and senior management on quality-related matters.
  • Oversees the bank's compliance with HMDA and CRA reporting requirements and ensure that preparation, review, and delivery of reporting are performed in accordance with bank policy and regulatory guidance.

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in banking operations, with at least 5 years in a quality control or risk management role (required)
  • 5+ years of management experience (required)
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations, operational risk, and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience with audit processes, quality assurance tools, and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking systems (e.g., core banking platforms, workflow tools).
  • Certifications such as CRCM (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager), Six Sigma, or PMP are a plus.


Knowledge & Skills



  • Experience in retail, commercial, or digital banking environments.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.



Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
