Essential Job Duties |
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing a wide range of initiatives that support the operations, outreach, and academic goals of the department. This position is tasked with managing project life cycles from initiation to completion, including defining scope, developing project plans, identifying resources, managing budgets, tracking milestones, and ensuring timely delivery. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with academic departments, campus partners, staff, students, and vendors to ensure successful execution of strategic and operational projects.
The Project Manager will play a key role in supporting programs and initiatives at
UNC by providing structured project planning, monitoring, and execution.
- Plan and implement Online Course Development Workshops
- Organize departmental meetings and support programming
- Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual events
- Manage administrative functions such as scheduling, invoicing, and stakeholder communication
- Serve as a liaison among stakeholders to ensure smooth information flow, consistent documentation, and follow-through on action items
- Prioritize tasks across competing deadlines while maintaining strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration in a fast-paced, team-oriented academic environment
- Apply a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to support operational excellence and the growth of programs and initiatives at UNC
This is a hybrid position(3 days in office, 2 days remote)

- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in a higher education setting.
- Familiarity with academic programming, especially pre-college or summer initiatives.
- Experience with invoicing, budgeting, or financial tracking.
- Knowledge of UNC-Chapel Hill administrative systems and processes.
- Familiarity with marketing material inventory or event marketing logistics.
- Certification or training in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile, Asana, Trello).
