Auria is looking for a Systems Engineer to support the development of advanced cloud-hosted ground systems for large-scale space operations. This role emphasizes Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) activities to ensure technical integrity across requirements, architecture, interface management, and system validation. The engineer will work in collaborative, multi-vendor environment to define, integrate, and demonstrate secure, modular ground systems capabilities that enable constellation management, telemetry ingest, and mission system interoperability.
This is a remote position with a preference to be located in Colorado Springs, Co, or Huntsville, AL.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
- Perform SEIT functions including requirements management, architecture definition, interface control, risk management, and system validation.
- Develop and manage system requirements, interface definitions, and technical baselines for cloud-based ground system capabilities.
- Define and update ICDs, schema, and APIs to ensure interoperability across multi-vendor systems.
- Document system architecture, data flows, services, and functional decomposition.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute system-level integration, tests, demonstrations, and validation events, including anomaly resolution.
- Support Digital Engineering Environment (DEE) and MBSE workflows, ensuring schema compliance and conformance testing.
- Facilitate constellation operations design: telemetry ingest, vehicle health/status monitoring, trajectory analysis, and anomaly handling.
- Ensure systems design meets cybersecurity and cloud Authority to Operate (ATO) standards.
- Work with product owners and stakeholders to capture operational needs, translate them into technical requirements, and ensure delivered capabilities align with mission objectives.
- Collaborate with Government engineers, internal teams, and external partners to maintain interoperability to reduce integration churn.
- Support program scheduling, cost, schedule, technical reporting, and deliverable compliance.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of systems engineering, preferably in defense, aerospace, or mission systems.
- Proven experience with SEIT activities: requirements generation, architecture, interface management, risk management, integration, and validation.
- Familiarity with constellation operations, flight dynamics, and ground system architectures.
- Understanding of cloud-native environments, containerized deployments, and secure data transport.
- Experience working with multi-vendor, government-led integration environments
- Mission-Driven Professional: Collaborative contributor motivated by the opportunity to develop cutting-edge solutions that protect and serve both the nation and the world.
WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
- Experience with MBSE tools and DEE integration (e.g., Cameo, SysML, Confluence/Jira-based workflows)
- Knowledge of schema compliance testing and model-driven conformance validation.
- Familiarity with telemetry ingest pipelines, anomaly detection, and Common Operating Picture (COP) visualization.
- Exposure to service-based ground communications and optimization approaches.
- Understanding of cybersecurity compliance standards (RMF, Zero Trust, DoD/USSF cloud security).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub/GitLab, and collaborative development environments.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to interface with operators, program office staff, and external data/system providers.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $120,000 - $180,000.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: The deadline to apply is October 15, 2025.
