About the Role

Wiley is seeking an experienced compensation leader to join our People Organization as Vice President of Global Compensation. This critical role will lead our global compensation strategy, sales incentive design, and global mobility programs while driving strategic initiatives that directly impact our 5,000 colleagues worldwide. Reporting to the SVP, Rewards, People Tech and Insights, you will oversee a team of compensation professionals and partner closely with business leaders across our $1.6B global organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Design and implement global compensation strategies that align with Wiley's business objectives and rewards philosophy, and support talent acquisition, retention, and engagement
  • Lead the development and execution of sales incentive plans, ensuring timely design, approval, and rollout with full colleague understanding and acknowledgment
  • Oversee global mobility programs to support our international workforce
  • Partner with People Organization leadership to ensure alignment across HR initiatives and drive organizational effectiveness

Compensation Program Management

  • Direct the annual compensation planning cycle including merit increases, incentive programs, and equity compensation
  • Lead pay equity analyses and ensure competitive, fair compensation practices across all markets ensuring compliance with local requirements
  • Develop job architecture frameworks and leveling structures
  • Create competitive offer strategies and guidelines to support talent acquisition efforts
  • Oversee rewards governance, ensuring proper controls and compliance with global regulations

Sales Compensation Excellence

  • Oversee the design and management of sales incentive plans across multiple business units
  • Develop compensation dashboards and analytics to track sales compensation key performance indicators
  • Ensure sales compensation strategies drive desired behaviors and business outcomes

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing global compensation team
  • Set clear goals and performance expectations while providing ongoing coaching
  • Develop talent pipeline and succession planning for key roles within the function
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence
  • Drive employee engagement and create an inclusive team environment
  • Manage team resources effectively to deliver on strategic priorities and operational commitments

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive compensation experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles
  • Proven expertise in global compensation design and sales incentive planning
  • Experience managing global mobility programs and international compensation structures
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, including proficiency with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellence in executive communication and presentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or relevant certifications (CCP, GRP) preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Executive Compensation experience in a publicly traded company
  • Knowledge of job architecture and career framework development
  • Experience with tools like Syndio, Everstage, or similar compensation platforms
  • Experience in publishing, education technology, or professional services industries

The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
