Job Description

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry.

We are looking for a talented Senior VDC Coordinator to join our dedicated team at our office located in Cary, North Carolina.

Project Site: Clayton, NC

In this role, you will assist with obtaining, evaluating, and coordinating all information needed to construct the project per the contract documents through BIM models and to ensure that the work meets all safety standards, is within schedule requirements, and is constructed to the highest level of quality possible. This will be done by leveraging BIM tools and processes to benefit project workflows.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Works on complex assignments with assistance, with attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.
  • Review models from designers, subcontractors, and others to ensure proper coordination.
  • Coordinate all BIM models (Trades, Vendors, Partners, etc.)
  • Creating all needed data and reports for coordination meetings.
  • Create federated models for many purposes (PE review models, field inspection models, punch list items, background models, field instruction models).
  • General review and documentation of design documents and coordination conflicts.
  • Facilitating regular meetings with design/construction team members and distributing responses to subcontractors.
  • Assist in the validation of model-based project as-builts by trade subcontractors.
  • Responsible for individual quality control and timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Field CQC support, resolving field disputes through model verification.
  • Verifying with field subcontractors that they have the most current coordinated information.
  • Provide modeling for change order verification, ROMs, scope holes in modeling efforts, design team support, etc.

The salary offered for this role is between $79,000-$101,000 but the actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set, and education.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Associate's/Technical degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in computer-assisted drafting, design, and VDC/BIM.
  • Strong working knowledge of Navisworks Manage, including clash detection.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with other modeling software such as BIM 360 / ACC, SketchUp, and AutoCAD
  • Strong working knowledge of MEP systems and installations
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and vendor files to meet deadlines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Able to deal with and resolve conflicts between contractors, clients, and the design team.
  • Willingness to learn new software and assist in developing VDC standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of BIM 360, ACC, and other Autodesk products.
  • Field experience in design and construction.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Context and Environment and Safety

  • Travel based on project location but willingness to travel 5-20% of the time to various job locations is necessary.
    This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research or other "non-administrative" areas.
