THE HIGH LEVEL

Fairfax County Department of Information Technology (DIT) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Project Assistant to support the Enterprise Network & I-Net Cable Infrastructure division. This role will assist with the coordination, documentation, and tracking of construction, network cabling, and infrastructure projects. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

This is a full-time, on-site position (Monday-Friday). Telework is not available initially but may be considered in the future based on performance.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING



  • Obtain, track, and follow up on Construction plans, project proposals / quotes and Wi-Fi heat map's
  • Develop / update cabling cut sheets; purchase orders (PO's) and order status'
  • Conduct regular quality checks and reviews
  • Update other related construction job information
  • Manage project information in a centralized and shared file system
  • Assist the Infrastructure Construction Coordinator as needed
  • Provide comprehensive reports on project progress, achievements, and challenges to stakeholders and management
  • Support Infrastructure Construction Coordinator with day-to-day activities.
  • Assist Network Logistics Lead with project logistics and coordination.
  • Coordinate Wi-Fi heat maps with design teams and vendors.
  • Update the Capital/Agency Project Tracker with project status and key
  • Review Building Design Briefs (BDBs) and ensure updates are added to
  • project trackers and Service Now (ESMP) workflows.
  • Conduct ESMP workflow-driven status checks to ensure project updates and
  • Attend project check-in meetings.
  • Collaborate with project managers on construction projects.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE



  • Bachelors degree and 2+ years experience supporting IT projects for government customers. Experience can be substituted for education.
  • Strong organizational and project tracking skills.
  • Experience with project logistics, financial tracking and coordination.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, as-built drawings, and cabling documentation is desired but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Oice Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Familiarity with Service Now (ESMP) is also desired but not required.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-departmental and vendor coordination.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Adhering to regulations, performance obligations within contractual agreements, and meeting deadlines are just another day on the job for you.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • You have the ability to work independently and in a matrixed team environment
  • Your attention to detail is impeccable
  • CAPM certification desired
  • ITIL certs preferred

This position is onsite and requires no travel
