The Caseworker assess need as well as provide direction and support for households through an intake/assessment and referral program that serves as an initial point of contact for all new people requesting assistance through The Salvation Army. Coordinates service delivery with other community agencies.

About the role:



  • Develops short term case plans with family/ individuals and direct to appropriate community resources when needed.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for administering the Pathway of Hope Approach in case management and maintaining an active caseload of Pathway of Hope clients.
  • Provides training, support, and direction for intake staff (volunteers) in directing clientele to appropriate area resources/agencies.
  • Provides a full range of case management interventions including engagement of new clients, completion of comprehensive assessments and action plans, referrals to services designed to address identified goals and development of plans to address transition needs and ongoing documentation of progress.
  • Maintains appropriate paper and electronic case records for all clients served.
  • Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of landlord/tenant relations and tenants rights.
  • Provides support/advocacy as needed and appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of community services, and promote good working relations with those service providers, including other Salvation Army programs/staff.
  • Participates in self development opportunities related to position.
  • Develops and revises appropriate program forms as necessary.
  • Maintains and completes necessary program statistical reports, including Service Point
  • Participates fully in activities with regional coordinator as required by Pathway of Hope
  • Maintains a professional working relationship with Corps staff as well as various other local/regional social service agencies.


Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field desired

Experience: Two years' experience in a Social Services or related role

Certifications:



  • Social Work certification from the State of Wisconsin preferred
  • Valid Wisconsin License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier.
