Location: 205 N East Ave Jackson, MI 49201 Department: Cardiac Surgery Reports To: Supervising Cardiac Surgeon Inpatient/Outpatient: 25% Inpatient | 75% Outpatient Case Load: 100% Adult Position Overview: Henry Ford Health Jackson is seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Cardiac Surgery team. This position is Monday through Friday, with 8-hour day shifts and no weekend responsibilities. The APP will provide comprehensive care to patients aged 18 and older, with a mix of outpatient clinic responsibilities and dedicated time each day to assist with cardiac surgery consults on the inpatient floor. Candidates must have an active ACLS certification and the ability to independently manage patient care. Cardiology and cardiac experience are preferred, and while new graduates are welcome to apply, they must have prior experience in an ER or ICU setting. A minimum of 3 years of cardiology experience in an undergraduate or graduate clinical role is strongly desired. Procedures - None. Schedule - Full-Time. 40 hours per week. 8-hour shifts, Monday - Friday. GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive Physician Assistant (PA) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in any of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required. Qualifications: * NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) * PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) * NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan * PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Licensure and Certification * Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application) * National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA) * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. * DEA/CSL, required through credentialing. * DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL. Experience * Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery experience, preferred. * If a new graduate, ER or ICU experience, required. * At least 3 years Cardiology experience in an undergraduate or graduate role. * EPIC Experience, preferred.
