SUMMARY

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) is responsible for the coordination of operations and maintenance activities and is the one point of contact between operations and maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Screening work requests and approving valid work orders.
  • Rejecting invalid work requests and informing the originator.
  • Define the relative urgency and importance of new work orders to determine if any should break into the current daily or weekly schedule.
  • Ensuring work request is written properly; require an MOC? Equipment number correct? Work location clearly identified, etc.
  • Determine if it is a duplicate work order, Will it affect any other work orders, Will other work conflict with this job, are other work orders in backlog which should be done in conjunction with, are there any safety or environmental concerns?
  • Determining the final priority status.
  • Setting planning priorities by familiarizing themselves with all open maintenance work orders and determining priorities.
  • Dictating weekly maintenance schedule by familiarizing themselves with all Job Ready maintenance work orders and setting scheduling priorities.
  • Serving as a liaison between operations and maintenance.
  • Determine if equipment can be safely shut down and locked out to perform work.
  • Run reports on all planned and unplanned outages to determine if other work should be completed during outage.
  • Determine priority and scope of all planned plant outages.
  • Preparing and publishing work order status reports for operations.
  • Working with the planner on work order backlog.
  • Prepare and publish report from the SAP PM module.
  • Work with maintenance and engineering to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Work with performance engineers to identify potential cost savings projects.
  • Work with plant engineering and maintenance to prepare for plant shutdown and startup events.
  • Coordinate, delegate, review and approve plant standard operating procedures.
  • Obtain and maintain technical competence in all plant operating positions.
  • Create SAP Work Notifications.
  • Create MOC's as needed to facilitate plant changes. Review work order and preventative maintenance backlog.
  • Work directly with shift supervisors determining plant needs.
  • Communicate work that is potential threats to production.
  • Communicate to transportation department of any maintenance work that affects any loading processes.
  • Request contractor support as needed to complete required maintenance.
  • Communicating upcoming work scope to shift supervisor for proper maintenance preparation.
  • Conduct weekly work management meeting, with prepared reports from SAP reviewing preventative maintenance backlog, corrective maintenance backlog and metrics.
  • Knowledge of process equipment and operation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and process issues.
  • Work with Operations Outage Coordinator and the Outage Coordinator for schedule building and work order scheduling.
  • Assist shift supervisors in day to day operation as needed.
  • Work with Cellroom Engineer to support cell renewal process and cell replacements to ensure adequate mechanic time is scheduled weekly.
  • Provide work order status to shift supervisors and operators.
  • MOC coordinator for small changes requested by shift supervisors
  • MDG user for operations group

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or 10 years of experience in production.
  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience desired (with a Bachelor's degree), preferably in a PSM covered, continuous chemical manufacturing process facility
  • Works successfully under moderate supervision
  • Has the ability to apply and interpret statistical tools and applications for the optimization of large systems and processes
  • Ability to successfully manage small to mid-size projects, processes, or work groups
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and has ability to lead small teams
  • Process Safety Management experience desired
  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written are required
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Chlor-alkali experience a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.

PAY

Salary Range $122,000 - $158,000 per year

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The pay range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be offered as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
