OverviewAre you a health technology attorney interested in working at the cutting edge of consumer health Artificial Inteligence (AI)? The Corporate and External Legal Affairs (CELA) AI & Research legal team is hiring for a Senior Corporate Counsel to serve as a trusted adviser to the Microsoft AI engineering group that is working to evaluate and advance AI capabilities, particularly in clinical reasoning, and develop products and services to improve consumer health. In this role you will be partnered with business, engineering, and compliance teams to ensure Microsoft's AI technologies meet the highest standards of legal and ethical compliance. You will be responsible for a broad and varied portfolio of legal work what will include product counseling on general AI and health-specific regulatory compliance, privacy, and transactional support for business development and product engineering teams. You will also partner with other CELA colleagues to ensure consistency and uniformity of AI health support across Microsoft's various health-focused efforts. ResponsibilitiesLegal Advice and CounselIdentify and anticipate legal risks in the client's business, technology, public policy, and develop creative solutions to mitigate future risk. Manage and develop partnerships with outside counsel, draft novel policies and agreements, and negotiate transactional documents.Monitor and interpret evolving global, federal, and state regulatory frameworks governing health technology, AI, data privacy, and consumer protection. Provide proactive legal guidance to ensure Microsoft's AI offerings comply with HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, FDA regulations (where applicable), FTC guidance, and other relevant laws and standards.Advocate for Microsoft's interests by developing relationships with legal professionals, government officials, customers, and partners.Engage industry, business, and legal groups to drive our policy objectives, and take part in external outreach initiatives.Operational ExcellenceEvaluate processes, develop policies and best practices, and provide continuous feedback to make the delivery of legal services within your work group significantly more efficient. Prioritize expenses according to the budget, and model compliance, privacy, and data security.CommunicationEnsure a coordinated CELA voice through broad collaboration across groups, management, and leaders.
