OverviewThe Advanced Reasoning Group is hiring a Principal Applied Scientist at Mountain View, CA, or Redmond, WA. The team is responsible for creating and delivering cutting-edge reasoning technologies that drive business outcomes for Microsoft and its customers built on our partnerships across the org. We are looking for a Principal Applied Scientist to deliver a state-of-the-art shopping knowledge graph to power amazing shopping experiences. In this role you will have the opportunity to solve modeling problems around shopping knowledge graph. You'll leverage multimodal techniques, facets, LLM-based generative methods and agentic process to curate and improve the shopping graph, to uplevel the shopping catalog. You will need to ensure the approach is scalable, so optimization techniques such as SLM investment is needed. You'll also have opportunity to build innovative shopping experiences using the rich catalog and agentic systems, e.g. build a deep research shopping agent, a catalog agent, and related ecosystems. Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. ResponsibilitiesParticipate in design, implementation, and execution across a variety of features regarding data science, machine learning and knowledge graph.Drive innovations in LLM reasoning, analytics applications, retrieval, ranking and generic Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision (CV) models used in an ads recommender systems.Embody our Culture & Values. | |
