Description MaineHealth's Department of Surgical Oncology is seeking a Thoracic Surgeon to join their well-established practice in Portland, Maine. The Thoracic Surgery practice is located in MaineHealth's Cancer Center, Scarborough, ME, with inpatient services and surgery provided at MaineHealth's flagship hospital, Maine Medical Center. This position offers:
- Teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Program.
- Academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
- Working with two highly trained and skilled surgeons who care for patients with benign and malignant diseases of the lungs, chest wall, pleural space, mediastinum, esophagus and foregut.
- A strong and collaborative team of Radiologists, Pathologists, Pulmonologists, Surgeons, Medical and Radiation Oncologists and nurse navigators to assist with the customized plan of care for each patient as well as an integrated tumor board for thoracic malignancies.
- In addition to caring for inpatient and outpatient thoracic patients, the candidate will provide consultative services to MATRIx, a multidisciplinary patient lung nodule review committee, Thoracic Tumor Board, and the Thoracic Oncology Clinic (TOC) Multidisciplinary Clinic along with Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology.
- Minimally invasive surgical approaches are used as much as possible in the treatment of both benign and malignant pathology; however, the surgeons also have the expertise to perform advanced open operations and have support available as needed from other specialists throughout the MaineHealth system.

Qualifications:
- Board Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
- Completion of United States Fellowship/specialty training in Thoracic Surgery.
- At least five years of experience.
- Expertise in minimally invasive techniques.
- Interest in clinical research.
