Position Title Dental Hygiene Supervising Dentist
FLSA Non-Exempt
FT/PT Part Time
Hours Per Week Up to 25
Work Schedule Monday-Friday
Position Salary Range $60.00-$65.00 per hour
Summary
The supervising dentists will be evaluating clinical procedures with a few exceptions. The periodontal scaling (including ultrasonic scaling) and root planing procedures are to be evaluated by the dental hygiene program faculty. The supervising dentist must be an excellent communicator and licensed to practice dentistry in Maryland.
Essential Role Responsibilities
* Assessment of oral abnormalities
* Radiographic interpretations
* Dental hygiene faculty, student and patient consultations
* Referrals as needed
* As indicated by a patient's medical or dental history, prescription of medications such as antibiotics for premedication and antimicrobials for dental hygiene therapy
* Administration and instruction of local anesthesia
* Administration and instruction of nitrous oxide
* Role model for students and public relations with clinic patient volunteers
* Emergency director during emergency situations in the clinical setting
* Member of Dental Hygiene Program Advisory Board
* Lecturer for dental hygiene courses
Minimum Qualifications:
* Graduation from an accredited dental school with a degree in dentistry
* Current licensure to practice dentistry in the state of Maryland
* Current CPR certification
* Current with continuing education in accordance with the requirements of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners
* Current member of the A
* Current CPR certification
* Teaching methodology background
* Eligible to be a member in good standing of the ADA, MDA, and local component dental societies.
* Current with Continuing Education credits in accordance with the requirements of the Maryland Dental Association
* Current knowledge of OSHA & HIPAA guidelines
Minimum Education Required Doctorate
Experience Required 2
Preferred Experience
* Prior teaching experience
* Member of the American Dental Association
* Member of local component of dental society
