Farm Interpreter

The Farm Interpreter is responsible for the care of interpretive animals and maintenance of the facility and equipment.

Pay Rate: $14.50 per hour.

Major Duties/Specific Tasks

• Assist with implementation of interpretive program: plan and present educational programs; plan and prepare exhibits and other interpretive and educational materials.
• Assist with management of interpretive animals:provide necessary feeding; ensure the health and safety of animals; maintain and develop animal health records.
• Perform proper NOVA Parks business policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of animal husbandry and farm management.
• Considerable ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and with staff members.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Ability to prepare and present accurate reports.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor and to work in all weather conditions.
• Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Availability for call in emergencies.
• Availability to work additional hours during peak operating times.
• Certification or ability to obtain certification in CPR and first aid.
• Required to purchase and wear standard uniform.
