JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Collective Cognition and Playful Designgroupis hiringa Part-time, paid undergraduate student to join the research team as a Research Assistant. This position offers hands-on experience with qualitative research methods in K-12 educational environments. The ideal candidate will have technical skills and agenuine interest in education research. The position begins October 14th or as soon as the position is filled. It offers flexible hours, averaging 10-15 hours per week, which will be arranged in coordination with the research team

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection, storage, and/or transcription
  • Support codingand analysis of video and interview data
  • Organize and maintain research files and datasets
  • Conduct literature reviews and assist in summarizingfindings

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student in education, social sciences, information sciences, or related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (data organization).
  • Fluent English language writing, speaking, and comprehension.
  • Ability to complete tasks on time without micromanagement.
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a positive and productive way.
  • Ethical engagement with all human subject data, includingkeepingto confidentiality, data archiving, and privacyguidelines set by the project.
  • Must (a) pass and maintain CITI trainingstatus and (b) become an authorized adult per AD39.
  • Ability to carry and set-up research and educational equipment, with or without an accommodation.
  • Work on-campus and off-campus collectinghuman subject's data with youths and educators.

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of LDT100 or LDT110N.
  • Prior experience workingwith children in educational or extracurricular contexts, like after-school clubs.
  • Confidence to admit when they do not know somethingand ask questions when necessary.
  • Familiarity with or desire to learn qualitative research methods (e.g., coding, thematic analysis).
