POSITION SPECIFICS

The Clinical Trials Office at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA is seeking a Clinical Research Business Analyst. The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) is currently supporting the health system through a major transition to a new electronic medical record (EMR) while also preparing to replace its Clinical Research Management System (CRMS). This dual transition represents both a challenge and an opportunity to redesign workflows, strengthen data integrity, and improve operational efficiency across the research enterprise. The Clinical Research Business System Analyst will play a central role in this effort by applying prior experience with research systems, process improvement, and change management to guide the institution through these transitions. Qualified candidates will bring both technical and operational expertise and will be expected to translate lessons learned from previous roles into actionable strategies that drive process change, reduce inefficiencies, and support sustainable growth in clinical research operations.

Business Systems Analysts perform duties related to the implementation, management, maintenance, enhancement, support, and decommissioning of critical software systems; consult with stakeholders to gather and define requirements; configure and implement new systems and/or enhance existing systems; write and execute test plans; troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues; deliver training and guidance to end users and system/service owners; develop and maintain system documentation.

  • Ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of business systems; serve as a liaison between technical staff and user groups
  • Modify and configure systems to meet business needs and stakeholder requirements
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain new or current system processes and workflows
  • Compile data from various databases and/or sources; display and analyze data
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new systems and solutions, or identify enhancements to existing systems
  • Develop and execute test plans and scripts, as well as other quality assurance measures; lead testing such as user acceptance, performance, security, usability, etc.
  • Collect user feedback regarding system performance and work with team to prioritize configuration requests
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system issues
  • Develop and provide trainings, demonstrations, and regular communication to end-users
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Business Systems Analyst - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Business Systems Analyst - Senior Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $102,300.00.
