The RF Site hardware engineering department has a mixture of hardware and firmware engineers, product architects, system architects, and integration / test engineers. Our team is focused on the development of the system hardware used in our RF site products. Job Description

The RF Site Hardware team is an organization within the Critical Communication Networks team of Motorola Solutions. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining sophisticated and highly reliable communications, infrastructure and networking products for Mission Critical and commercial communication products across a variety of global markets and standards. The RF Site Hardware Engineering team develops state of the art Digital, RF, Mechanical and Power Supply solutions to meet customer's needs.

The candidate will be responsible for managing a team that designs and develops power systems for RF communications circuits. The assignment will consist of developing new power systems for the next generation of infrastructure products. Other assignments will consist of supporting field issues and end-of-life components related to power supply systems on legacy products.

The candidate is expected to have experience in switch mode and linear power supply circuit designs. The candidate needs to be familiar with selecting appropriate topologies and developing an overall power system architecture. They should enjoy managing and coaching engineers who design and maintain power supplies and power supply circuits. During the development phase of a project, the candidate would work closely with other managers, senior management, engineers, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business people, suppliers and internal factories. Some limited travel may be required.

Specific Knowledge/Skills

  • BSEE, minimum. MSEE preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of product development experience in the design and development of high reliability switch mode power supplies in the 5 to 1000 watt range and linear regulators from 0.01 to 5 watt range.

  • Background in analog circuit design and simulation tools such as SPICE.

  • Background in PCB layout of embedded power systems.

  • Background in working with UL, CSA, CEC, and EMC standards desired.

  • Works effectively with other engineering disciplines.

  • Strong Collaborator with other internal teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent design projects.

  • Summarizes complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.

  • Good writing and communication skills. Insightful communications skills.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 5+ years experience in power circuits/systems engineering.

  • 3+ years Engineering management experience.
