Current Need:

The Sr. Manager (Lead), Product Innovation supports the execution of McKesson's enterprise innovation strategy by managing the day-to-day operations of innovation projects and programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Innovation, the Manager of Product Innovation is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams, tracking project milestones, and ensuring timely delivery of pilots, proof of concepts, and minimum viable products. This role plays a critical part in operationalizing innovation efforts, applying structured methodologies, and maintaining alignment with strategic goals. The position requires strong organizational skills, stakeholder engagement, and a working knowledge of innovation frameworks and digital tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Innovation Management

  • Manage the tactical execution of innovation initiatives from concept through pilot and MVP delivery.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations.

  • Track progress against milestones and proactively identify risks or delays.

  • Ensure documentation and reporting of project outcomes and learnings.

  • Help build business cases justifying investments in and returns from individual innovation initiatives.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Facilitate collaboration across product, strategy, operations, analytics, and technical teams.

  • Schedule and lead working sessions, stand-ups, and stakeholder updates.

  • Serve as the central point of contact for assigned innovation projects.

  • Ensure alignment between business needs and technical feasibility.

Innovation Process & Methodology

  • Apply structured innovation frameworks such as design thinking, lean startup, and agile delivery.

  • Support intake, discovery, and validation phases of the innovation lifecycle.

  • Maintain innovation pipeline tools and dashboards to track project status and metrics.

  • Assist in stage-gate reviews and governance processes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Prepare and deliver clear communications to internal stakeholders regarding project status, outcomes, and next steps.

  • Support the development of business cases and presentation materials for leadership reviews.

  • Coordinate feedback loops with business units, customers, and partners to refine concepts.

Market & Customer Insight Integration

  • Partner with analytics and strategy teams to incorporate customer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence into project planning.

  • Support vendor and partner engagement for external research and concept validation.

  • Help synthesize findings into actionable recommendations for innovation initiatives.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications.

Critical Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in product, venture, innovation, strategy, or program management roles.

  • Experience managing cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with digital product development and agile delivery practices.

  • Exposure to healthcare or regulated industries preferred.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Working knowledge of innovation tools and frameworks.

  • Proficiency in collaboration platforms (e.g., Miro, Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage ambiguity and drive clarity in fast-paced environments.

Working Conditions:

  • Traditional Hybrid office environment.

  • Commutable to Irving, TX is preferred but not required.

  • Travel up to 15%.
