 Job Description: 
Position Summary: The Supervisor, Accounting oversees the daily operations of the credit union's accounting department, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role supervises accounting staff, manages month-end and year-end close processes, and leads efforts to identify, implement, and maintain automated solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy-particularly in journal entry preparation, posting, and reconciliation processes. Primary Responsibilities and Duties: 
  
   - Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff, providing guidance on technical matters, process improvements, and professional growth.
 
   
   - Assign, review, and approve work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
 
   
   - Oversee the preparation, review, and posting of journal entries, including automated and recurring entries.
 
   
   - Manage month-end and year-end close process, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.
 
   
   - Review and approve general ledger account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues.
 
   
   - Ensure timely completion of daily balancing and settlement activities for cash, investments, loans, and other accounts.
 
   
   - Identify accounting process suitable for automation, focusing on journal entries and reconciliations.
 
   
   - Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to streamline accounting workflows and support integration of any automated process.
 
   
   - Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure the integrity of automated and manual accounting processes.
 
   
   - Train accounting staff on new automation tools and process.
 
   
   - Ensure adherence to GAAP and NCUA regulations, and internal policies.
 
   
   - Asist in the annual budget process.
 
   
   - Assist with financial reporting, regulatory filings, and audit schedules.
 
   
   - Assume additional responsibilities as required for the growth and advancement of Everwise.
 
   
  
  
  Knowledge/Skills: 
  
   - Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP and Credit Union regulatory requirements
 
   
   - Ability to interpret and analyze financial data to support decision making and recommendations.
 
   
   - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 
   
   - Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
 
   
   - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 
   
   - Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
 
   
   - Proficiency with accounting software systems and Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
 
   
   - Familiarity with automation tools
 
   
  
  Minimum Requirements: 
  
   - High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
 
   
   - Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience within the accounting field.
 
   
   - 5+ years' experience in accounting, preferably within a credit union or banking environment.
 
   
   - Previous supervisory experience preferred
