Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The goal of the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention ( HPDP) is to prevent chronic disease and reduce health disparities. Investigators and staff at HPDP work with communities to conduct research, provide training and translate research findings into policy and practice. Research areas include nutrition and physical activity, cardiovascular health, diabetes, obesity, healthy food access, cancer prevention and control, children's health, rural health, and health equity. HPDP is part of a network of 20 CDC Prevention Research Centers across the United States.
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Data Manager position will work with the Community Health and Wellness Resource team across multiple projects, primarily the HomeGrown project (National Institutes of Health R61 funded study) and the OnWARD project (National Institutes of Health R01 funded study). HomeGrown will evaluate an adapted digital healthy lifestyle program specifically tailored for families of young children with Down syndrome with the goal of improving children's diet quality and physical activity. This R61 grant will evaluate the feasibility of this program. The OnWARD study will evaluate the potential of a remotely delivered workplace resilience intervention to improve well-being of early childhood educators who work with young children at centers. The individual in the position is responsible for managing and analyzing the environmental, behavioral, and heath outcome data for investigators, researchers, and community partners associated with these two projects.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
* Extracting and merging data from multiple sources (e.g., web-based platforms, Excel, Access) to create analytic datasets.
* Writing cleaning code to perform quality assurance checks on data and reporting output.
* Maintaining project datasets including all associated documentation (e.g., codebooks, data dictionaries, iterative versions of datasets from raw to final).
* Developing efficient statistical programming for large datasets.
* Creating derived variables based on established rubrics or instructions provided by investigators.
* Preparing analytic datasets extracted from the master dataset to use for approved paper development.
* Conducting routine analysis under the direction of investigators or senior statisticians.
* Creating customized data tables and figures for manuscripts, Data Safety Monitoring reports, etc.
* Lead creating/modifying survey in Qualtrics for baseline and follow-up measures
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's or Bachelors and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

- Experience or coursework in research methodology, and/or statistics
- Experience in data management and/or analysis
- Experience with SAS or other statistical software

- Experience managing multiple responsibilities/tasks concurrently
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience with social science research projects, particularly those related to public health nutrition, physical activity, and/or other health behavior research
- Experience working in a research setting, gathering editing, and analyzing data for social and/or economic research
- Experience working with multi-level and longitudinal datasets
- Proficiency in SAS statistical software
