Job Summary:
The Facilities Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Mary Washington Hospital (MWH) Engineering Services Department, including the management of building automation systems, maintenance programs, third-party operations, and construction projects. This role ensures the upkeep of aging infrastructure, supports facility expansion, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, trains, and manages MWH Engineering Associates and contractors. Conducts performance reviews, facilitates professional development, and manages scheduling and special project staffing.
  • Assists in the creation of the departmental budget and oversees capital projects related to infrastructure, building expansions, and facility upgrades. Manages construction activities, including scheduling utility outages, coordinating contractors, and ensuring effective communication throughout project lifecycles. Ensures cost control and timely completion of expansion and renovation projects.
  • Leads the Preventative Maintenance Program in line with Joint Commission standards, ensuring the timely completion of work orders and system upgrades. Monitors trends, implements corrective actions, and suggests improvements to enhance system efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Responds to alarms within the building automation system and manages third-party repairs. Oversees asset inventories, ensures accurate tracking, and assigns preventative and unscheduled maintenance work orders. Collaborates with vendors to refine system coverage and correct system failures.
  • Oversees maintenance and repair of aging building systems, ensuring the continued safe operation of facilities. Plans for long-term facility upkeep and recommends capital investments to address aging infrastructure. Prioritizes renovations, upgrades, and repairs to extend the life cycle of the building and systems.
  • Conducts regular safety, utility, and life safety hazard rounds. Ensures adherence to safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Manages compliance with CMS, TJC, and other regulatory agencies. Prepares for Joint Commission readiness and serve as a quality assurance liaison, ensuring service quality across all departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum of three years applicable work experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Technical training in equivalent supported systems and/or demonstrated competency related to the supported systems required.
  • CHFM preferred.
