Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for assisting with patient care as directed by Rehab Specialties Professionals and general operational duties to maintain service flow.

Job Functions


  1. Confers formally and informally with other team members, coordinating the rehabilitation program of the patient and providing a communication line between Rehab Specialties, patients and interdisciplinary professional staff.
  2. Assists the supervising therapist to conduct both individual and group treatment as outlines in the treatment plan in the areas of ADL, functional mobility, ROM, strength, and coordination, food preparation and swallowing/feeding sessions.
  3. Transports patients to and from therapy sessions and assists therapists as directed to prepare patients for therapy assessments and treatments.
  4. Assists with the transfer activities and lifting of patients.
  5. Facilitates the smooth functioning of the department by performing assigned administrative tasks and clerical duties.
  6. Documents and maintains patient records that reflect Rehab Aide interaction when care notes apply. Prepares charts the therapists and supports documentation efforts during treatment.
  7. Maintains inventory, orders, and stocks department supplies.
  8. Maintains department equipment by cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining orderly condition and reporting defective equipment. Completes any needed safety record keeping.
  9. Keep children safe when they are between treatment sessions or waiting for pick-up.
  10. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience


  • CPR Certification - available from Ridgeview after hire

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities



  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
  • Ability to serve patients with kindness, compassion, and intuition in an effective manner
  • Ability to prioritize for optimal safety, efficiency and quality of service
  • Ability to act as a patient advocate in a role that is highly visible and accessible to multiple customers
  • Ability to utilize good body mechanics and safe patient handling equipment to prevent injury to self and others\
  • Knowledge in position, weight bearing and equipment needs/limitations as ordered by the physician or rehab provider and/or specific to medical conditions or surgical interventions
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
  • Ability to work autonomously
