Students will receive a project at the beginning of the summer and present it in our project expo at the end of the summer. Location:North Campus Shift: May 18th - August 7th Pay Rate: $18.00- $23.00 Job Description Co-Op are cycled, full time opportunities for engineering students who are currently enrolled in a four-year college/university. Eligibility Requirements Ability to work 40-hour work weeks during rotation Willingness and ability to commit to a minimum of 3 rotations Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior pursuing a bachelor's degree Minimum GPA 2.5 Benefits Academic Credit (if applicable) Fitness Subsidized Housing Student Resources/Orientation Networking Opportunities Competitive Salary Professional Experience Long Description Position Summary The Package Engineering Co-Op will work closely with full time engineering and packaging staff to become familiar with the wire manufacturing support process as well as the tools, techniques and thought processes used in the industry. While completing the Co-Op, students will be exposed to many types of manufacturing directly related to the packaging and wire industry. Assignments may center on projects devoted to improvements in operation efficiency, scrap reduction, and problem solving. Key Responsibilities Will work with Packaging Engineer to develop production and design standards Work with Packaging Engineer to support and resolve customer concerns and process problems related to packaging Will work with Packaging Engineer to develop and optimize package testing protocols Grow the ability to recognize opportunities to lower costs, improve performance, and learn the steps to implement Work to support managements packaging initiatives Will develop strong knowledge and expertise in packaging methods, concepts and ideology Coordinate with management, plant personnel, vendors and contractors to complete projects on schedule and within budget Develop and grow understanding of how an excellent manufacturing company is run, particularly regarding safety Qualifications Minimum 2.5 GPA. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Packaging Engineering. Reliable transportation to and from work. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
