Description
BlueHalo, an AV Company, has an opportunity available for a Research Scientist to join our collaborative multidisciplinary team at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in Dayton, OH. The research will consist of modeling nano-origami structures that are responsive. This is a full-time research scientist position where mechanical modeling will be used to explore how primarily 2-D structures can be modified to enable drastic shape changes in the form of 3D shapes or actuations in response to external stimuli. A background and experience in mechanical modeling where thermal, chemical, electrical or inductive loads are applied (particularly at the nano scale). Experience with computer programming-particularly language(s) most relevant to scientific computing and one or more mechanical modeling tools, in addition to, strong communication skills will be required for this role. The Research Scientist will work closely with AFRL researchers, professors, students, staff, and University collaborators to map material morphologies and structures that are most promising for experimental investigation. Impact will be achieved through publications, conference presentations, and, when possible, transitioning technology. Required qualifications:
