Temple University's College of Liberal Arts is looking for an Associate Director Center for Professional Development Position Summary: Working closely with the Director in the College of Liberal Arts' Joyce K. Salzberg Center for Professional Development (JKSC), the Associate Director leads efforts to support the professional development and career readiness of undergraduate students through the development and promotion of experiential learning opportunities and activities. As part of a four-member team, the Associate Director oversees all internship initiatives, including workshops to facilitate the internship search and application process and managing a credit-bearing internship course. This individual facilitates and manages employer relations in JKSC by developing partnerships with a broad range of public and private employers throughout the region to provide students with access to internship opportunities and to support CLA employer focused events. The Associate Director collaborates and works closely with CLA Academic Departments as well as the Temple University Career Services Network to effectively leverage resources and ensure coordinated delivery of internship programming across the college. The Associate Director will support the college's strategic focus on internships and experiential learning by leading initiatives to increase student engagement, including the college's annual Beyond the Classroom event, the Pathways to Professions Summer Stipend Program, and the JKSC's Career Peer program. This position will also represent CLA at various internal and external meetings and events including enrollment management events to show case CLA internships and experiential learning programming to prospective students and families. The Associate Director will partner with the JKSC Director and the College's Assistant Dean for Student Services to further the JKSC's vision, mission and goals. This will include evaluating current programming, engaging in strategic planning and implementing new programming. This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department and is subject to change. A minimum of 4 days on campus is required. Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed for events, meetings and other related activities.
This position requires Background check - Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Required Education & Experience: *Bachelor's degree in student affairs, higher education administration, counseling, human resources or related field. *Four (4) years of experience in related areas preferably within a higher education setting. *Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (including OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). *Experience working in high volume and high traffic locations. Preferred: *Master's Degree *Experience working in career services, employer relations or recruitment. *Experience managing employer relations initiatives, industry partnerships, or experiential learning programs. Required Skills & Abilities: *Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of employers, students, faculty, and staff. *Demonstrated ability to prepare concise, accurate and high-quality written work while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. *Ability to maintain a consistently positive and objective constituent service approach. *Ability to manage time effectively while balancing multiple tasks. *Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to use independent judgment. *Demonstrated ability to manage and lead others in the administration of large-scale events, projects, programs, and initiatives. *Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. *Demonstrated understanding of an appreciation for the value of a liberal arts education. *Demonstrated experience in career advising or counseling for diverse student populations. *Proven ability to design, implement and assess career development programs, workshops and events. *Ability to manage employer relations initiatives, industry partnerships, or experiential learning programs. *Knowledge of current best practices in career development, experiential learning and job market trends. *Ability to oversee internship programs, including cultivating employer partnership, supporting student placement and ensuring alignment with academic and career goals. *Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed. Preferred: *Familiarity with career management platforms and assessment tools (e.g. Handshake, VMock and INTERVIEWOLOGY). This position is assigned as Onsite.
