Job Summary:

The Hardware Component Engineering Internship prepares Trimble's next generation of tools and technologies for market release by using these in the field and office and documenting workflows and performance. You can expect to have a component engineering internship in the following business areas: CTCT division (joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop simulation and analysis tools for positioning and control products.

  • Work on tools for data collection for IMU products.

  • Work closely with the hardware and test team to understand design workflow.

  • Complete evaluation testing on various hardware engineering products.

  • Completion of special projects and tasks

  • Provide end of internship presentation on key experiences

Recommended Skills & Experience

  • Candidates currently pursuing a master's or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related field

  • Experience with programming languages. (C, Python and MATLAB preferred)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications

  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong problem solving skills

Compensation: Trimble provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full time schedule. Trimble reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
