Job Description

The Design Engineer will play a critical role in AMPS Littleton Engineering

Department, focusing on the CAD design and documentation of automated

solutions for flexible packaging customers in the food industry. This role will work in AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create engineering documentation, perform design tasks, and support technical sales and service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both SolidWorks and AutoCAD and interest in the design of mechanical equipment.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

CAD Design:

  • Use SolidWorks to create 3D models, engineering drawings, and renders of mechanical packaging equipment
  • Use AutoCAD to develop and maintain 2D drawings and a 2D block library
  • Create facility layout drawings in AutoCAD
  • Help customers evaluate equipment fit using site visit measurements or 3D scans
  • Support sales and service by answering design-related queries using

AutoCAD and SolidWorks:

Engineering Documentation:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed engineering documentation, including technical drawings, manuals, specifications, and reports.
  • Research & Prototyping: * Conduct research to support innovative design solutions for automated flexible packaging systems.
  • May build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and ensure functionality.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU:

  • Education:
  • Associates degree with coursework in 3D and 2D CAD
  • (such as Mechanical Design or Mechanical Drafting), new grad
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience in 3D modeling (SolidWorks preferred), including creating 3D models, complex assemblies, and technical drawings
  • Experience using AutoCAD for 2D drafting
  • Experience with handling 3D scan data is a plus
  • Familiarity with factory layout design is a plus
  • Familiarity with sheet metal and weldment design a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and an interest in designing for manufacturability Certifications
  • (a plus): SolidWorks Associate or Professional Certification; AutoCAD Certifications (Certified User or ACP for Design and Drafting)
  • Work Environment:
  • Office-based with occasional travel for site visits or customer meetings.
  • These customer sites are typically meat packaging plants.
  • May involve working in a manufacturing or prototyping environment as needed.

CompensationThe starting salary for this position is expected to be between $85,600 to $107,000; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $85,600 to $128,400 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor's Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.
