About you

You're a dependable self-starter with a strong work ethic and a customer-centric mindset, ready to lead the day-to-day security operations of one of our commercial buildings. This role is a key step toward a rewarding career in corporate security within the growing field of commercial real estate.

As Security Supervisor, you will oversee building safety, manage a team of security personnel, and ensure smooth operation of all security systems. You'll play a critical role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for tenants, visitors, and staff.

As a Security Supervisor in Sacramento, CA, you're eligible for:

In this role, you will

Operations and Technical

  • Perform all duties in accordance with building, department, company policies, and applicable laws and regulations

  • Maintain full proficiency in security control room operations including integrated video management system (VMS) and building access control, fire alarm, building management control systems (BMCS), intercom/public address/paging system, telephone, and two-way radios

  • Monitor and respond to emergency broadcast message system and life-safety scanner.

  • Oversee access control for all assigned posts, process after-hours or special access requests for vendors and the client's team members.

  • Execute all emergency procedures including evacuations, shelter-in-place, and critical incident response.

Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide direct leadership and mentorship to security officers, setting standards for conduct, punctuality, and performance.

  • Conduct initial and ongoing training for all security staff to ensure consistent knowledge of policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.

  • Monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with department and company policies.

  • Coach, document, and escalate performance or policy issues in alignment with Colliers HR protocols.

  • Manage scheduling, attendance, overtime, and ensure balanced shift coverage.

  • Verify completion and accuracy of all staff training, BSIS guard-card hours, and CPR certifications.

  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and career development of security staff.

Documentation & Communication

  • Ensure accurate and timely electronic logs and formal incident reports.

  • Review and respond to pass-down logs and emails; follow up on outstanding issues.

  • Maintain and audit records for incident reporting, statistics, MSDS compliance, work orders, and inspections.

  • Serve as primary liaison with client property management, engineering, and local law enforcement.

  • Protect confidential information and sensitive security data with discretion.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements and assist with special projects, training drills, and emergency-preparedness exercises.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • Proficiency in electronic security and access control systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergencies.

  • Clear criminal history and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.

What you'll bring

  • Encourages and supports leadership and growth in others.

  • Minimum four years supervisory experience with a large-scale security/law enforcement operation. Must have school diploma or equivalency.

  • Must have clear criminal history.

  • Must pass drug test.

  • Must possess valid California Guard Card.

  • Be certified or obtain certification within 6 months in first aid, CPR and AED.

Approximate hourly range for this Role: $24/hr to $27/hr

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
