This is a remote role in the US.

Pay Range: $50/hr - $55/hr

Our client is a leader in the tech and VR space. Help build chcaracter pipelines as a Technical Artist for world-class products that span AR, VR, MR, and mobile. They are focused on building people-first experiences.

The Technical Artist is responsible for exploring/creating art pipelines, and building assets that help teams execute designs that will define the future of VR and mobile products.

Responsibilities:



  • Character asset delivery from vendor to engine
  • Asset setup, preparation and polish including skinning and optimizations for automated intake system
  • Partner closely with the engineering, tech art and design teams
  • Review and prioritize work across multiple projects.
  • Support the creation of templatized digital clothing assets.
  • Responsible for outlining asset authoring guidelines, process and pipeline as needed.
  • Work with engineers and technical artists to build tools and support for asset creation pipelines.
  • Asset optimization - topology reduction, draw call reduction, texture baking, etc.
  • Work closely with engineers to implement interactive objects and systems.
  • Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads.
  • Collaborate and iterate based on the team's needs.
  • Develop broad technical expertise in a unique asset pipeline to assist in a wide variety of technical and artistic tasks.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience in either the game or film industries in either Artist or Technical Artist roles
  • Experience communicating in a multi-disciplinary team, including engineers, artists, and designers
  • Experience with one or more commercial game engines (e.g. Unreal or Unity)
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and asset creation packages like Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, Knald, Marmoset, Photoshop, etc.
  • Able to locate and resolve content and asset quality issues using proprietary editors.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Task driven, self-motivated, proactive & works well under deadlines
  • Generalist knowledge in skills such as lighting, animation, physics and particle system.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Must be a quick learner and able to adapt to bespoke legacy technology and methods.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelors or masters degree in 3D Art/Design
  • Python coding knowledge
  • Professional content development experience, including shipping one or more titles
  • Prior virtual reality experience
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies


The target hiring compensation range for this role is $50/hr - $55/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
