The Opportunity:

The Department of Finance and Operational Excellence within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire a detail-oriented, collaborative Finance/Budget Analyst II to support the Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) department. This full-service accounting role is responsible for focusing on the financial management of capital construction projects, ensuring accurate reporting, efficient processes, and alignment with university financial policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Financial Transactions: Handle all financial activities related to capital projects-journal entries, budget amendments, requisitions, purchase orders, invoice payments, and financial close-out procedures.

  • Monthly Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations between Workday and other systems (e.g., Trimble, AIM). Prepare clear supporting workpapers and review documentation, and work with departments to research and resolve discrepancies.

  • Reporting and Analysis: Support financial reporting needs through ad hoc reports, reconciliations, forecasts, and construction-related financial analyses. May assist in tasks assigned to a higher-level analyst.

  • Problem Solving and Decision-Making: Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues independently with moderate supervision. Provide insights and recommendations to supervisors.

  • Process Improvement: Document financial business processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose solutions to streamline accounting operations.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, including General Accounting, Finance Operations, and PDC. May also support or mentor junior analysts as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial analysis, preferably in a higher education, government, or capital construction environment.

  • Demonstrated experience with preparing journal entries, procurement transactions, and other similar financial transactions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment and identify/resolve discrepancies as they arise.

  • Working knowledge of Workday Financials or similar ERP systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
