Director, AI Ethics and Governance

About the Role

Salesforce is seeking a Director of AI Ethics & Governance to lead the development and implementation of responsible AI practices across the organization. This critical role will ensure that our Generative AI models and enterprise AI systems are built and deployed in alignment with the highest standards of fairness, accountability, transparency, and trust. You will drive the creation of governance frameworks, ethical risk assessments, and policies that balance innovation with responsibility, helping Salesforce lead the industry in trustworthy AI adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and uphold ethical standards and governance frameworks for AI systems across Salesforce.

  • Develop and maintain AI ethics guidelines, and best practices.

  • Conduct ethical risk assessments for new AI initiatives and ensure compliance with global regulations and industry standards.

  • Collaborate closely with AI researchers, engineers, product managers, and legal teams to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.

  • Design and implement governance processes that support responsible innovation at scale.

  • Provide training, resources, and practical guidance to internal teams on AI ethics and responsible AI practices.

  • Monitor and evaluate global AI policy, regulatory, and ethical developments to anticipate and respond to external requirements.

  • Advise leadership on fairness, accountability, and transparency considerations in AI design and deployment.

  • Contribute to the development of Salesforce's broader AI strategy, ensuring an ethical lens is applied to product and agentic innovation.

What We're Looking For

  • Deep expertise in AI technologies, ethical frameworks, and governance principles.

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Ethics, Law, Computer Science, Policy, Philosophy, or a related field with a focus on technology ethics.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology governance, or a related discipline.

  • Proven ability to translate complex ethical challenges into actionable policies, frameworks, and processes.

  • Strong policy development, risk management, and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated success in building and operationalizing AI governance at scale.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

  • A track record of thought leadership in responsible AI, governance, or ethics in technology.
