Manages retail pharmacy operations for designated site. Responsible for achievement of customer service, clinical initiative objectives, financial objectives, and regulatory compliance including serving as pharmacist-in-charge; adherence to professional practices and KelseySeybold Clinic (KSC) and Kelsey Pharmacy policies and procedures, and management of all assigned personnel including students. Manages pharmacy personnel, provision of services, inventory, and overall profitability. Performs all duties of a registered pharmacist including accurate dispensing and counseling of prescriptions to customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages all retail pharmacy operations for designated site and hourly pharmacy personnel including staff schedule and overtime
  • Performs pharmacist-in-charge - education & training of staff, supervises procurement of prescription drugs, devise and products dispensed, distribution, disposal, and storage of all pharmaceutical materials including drugs, chemicals, and biologics, maintains records/accountability of all transactions involving pharmaceutical materials as required by applicable state and federal laws, assures maintenance of controls against theft/diversion of prescription drugs, adheres to policies and procedures regarding pharmacy record
    maintenance within the data processing system, legally operates the pharmacy while complying with all state and federal laws and sections governing the practice of pharmacy
  • Complies with Kelsey Pharmacy security policy including issuance of keys and documentation of such and documentation of after-hours access, pharmacy visitor log, and routine non-pharmacy personnel log. Designates replacement when on vacation. Available after hours in the event designated pharmacy has breakin or critical power outage/impending disaster
  • Responsible for the profitable operation of the designated retail pharmacy including managing Cost of Goods Sold (COGs) to budget, management of supply expenses, management of overtime by staff, and prescription volume to defined goal. Manages inventory min and max order points to achieve inventory levels appropriate to maintain drug availability while achieving both monthly purchasing expenditure and inventory turns objectives
  • Promotes training and education of self and staff. Assists/delegates in the training of all pharmacy personnel and assigned students. Assigns continuing education to ensure personnel performing to top of license. Coaches employees to achieve pharmacy objectives. Conduct performance appraisal, counseling, and with Pharmacy Director or Pharmacy Administrator and Human Resource approval, termination of Pharmacy personnel
  • Performs professional duties and responsibilities, associated with processing of prescriptions, to meet KSC and Kelsey Pharmacy objectives. Responsible for adherence to federal and state pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations. Maintains pharmacy license and is in good standing with Texas State Board of Pharmacy. May serve as Pharmacist-in-charge on applications for new pharmacies
  • Implementation and adherence of KSC and Kelsey Pharmacy policies and procedures including but not limited to employee time off requests, FMLA workflow, EHS procedures regarding ADA
    accommodation and on-the-job injury. Responsible for reading and responding when requested to emails and other communications sent by pharmacy administration on a timely basis and dissemination of information to pharmacy staff and clinic staff as necessary
  • Pharmacy staff adherence to Kelsey Pharmacy defined workflow processes. Engaged in promoting culture of patient safety and reports any dispensing error or HIPAA breach to Administrator, Retail Pharmacy along with required assessment of error to be presented to Pharmacy Peer Review Committee
  • Implements and manages pharmacy clinical programs and initiatives. Maintains documentation in pharmacy patient record and the electronic medical record where applicable including but not limited to medication synchronization, patient adherence program, companion medication program, pharmacy administered immunizations and specialty medication dispensing. Ensures patient are counselled as required and to engage as a partner in their health and wellness by applicable staff
  • Ensures pharmacy provides excellent patient experience by promptly greeting patient in kind and courteous manner. Promotes active listening and ensures customer concerns are addressed in a timely fashion. Serves as role model for excellent customer service

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or Pharm D College of Pharmacy
  • Current Texas Pharmacy license
  • 2+ years of retail pharmacy experience
  • Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions
  • Communication - demonstrated ability to communicate with Pharmacy Department personnel to delegate duties, inform about policies, train, assist with performance appraisals, and approve refunds/expense/returns. Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to serve as role model for excellent customer service
  • Stress Tolerance - demonstrated ability to make appropriate decisions and accurately process prescriptions in a high stress environment
  • Proven professional Appearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as pharmacist-in-charge
  • HMO and 3rd party managed care experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
