Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our Finance team. This role will be a critical partner to the Controller in driving financial accuracy, process improvement, and compliance across the company. The Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records and various monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting deliverables. The Assistant Controller is also responsible for supervising the performance and development of the accounting team. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly close process to ensure adherence to reporting deadlines.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
- Ensure account reconciliations and journal entries are prepared and reviewed in a timely manner.
- Oversee maintenance of general ledger and integrity of accounting transactions
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls/policies.
- Assist with variance analysis and reporting on key retail metrics (sales, margins, labor, and operating expenses).
- Lead efforts to automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual requirements.
- Support year-end audit processes and prepare required documentation for external auditors.
Education and Experience
- BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or MBA strongly preferred
- Prefer minimum of 7-10 years of corporate accounting experience or combination of public accounting and industry experience
- 3-5 years of Supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience with SAP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
