Job Description:

Purpose of the Position

Assist the Human Resource Department with various duties at the direction of the Director, Human Resources. Maintain positive communications with internal staff with knowledge of CBE policies, procedures, benefits, and other areas the Human Resource Department supports. Constantly project a positive image of the office, human resources team, and the company through a professional approach and appearance. Play a vital role as one of the key players in CBE's Human Resources Team.

Education and Experience Preferences

  • Degree in Human Resources or related field or related coursework preferred or equivalent work experience
  • At least 3 years of Human Resources experience
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to interact with various levels of associates and management.
  • Detail oriented, highly motivated and a strong work ethic.
  • Expected proficiency in MS Office and visual design applications
  • Ability to handle complex issues with authority and little guidance
  • Able to navigate efficiently the different social media sites and the web space
  • Ability to travel to all branch locations

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Possess a strong knowledge of relevant issues, laws and regulations pertaining to HR practices to ensure optimal value and full regulatory compliance
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of CBE corporate policies, SOPs, and procedures
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of all the benefits that CBE offers to our employees.
  • Manage the security and maintenance of 201 personnel files. Ensure that all files are complete and ready for regulatory inspection
  • Assist in teaching employees about company benefits during orientation and when questions arise
  • Prepare termination packets for management when requested; participate in terminations as necessary. Includes ensuring that all termination steps are completed for every employee that leaves the company.
  • Provides day-to-day support of management relating to disciplinary action and coaching of employees
  • Provides advice, support and counsel to managers on employee relations, performance issues, and disciplinary notices and various other employment related matters.
  • Participates in employee relations investigations, documents all conversations and assists in finding a resolution
  • Responds and provides feedback to managers to ensure situations are handled in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures as well as local labor laws.
  • Support the badge software that allows employees access to our building and offices, along with creating badges for employees and disabling badges for terminated employees.
  • May be needed to conduct new hire orientations, specifically when just one employee is involved, but can also participate and conduct orientations in a group setting.
  • Aid when needed to the Recruiter(s) in regard to prescreening, reference checks, interviewing, etc.
  • Process paperwork for new employees, or for current employees that request a change timely, accurately and appropriately.
  • Answer incoming calls an email inquiries relating to people services, ensuring that all calls/queries are answered in a prompt and professional manner
  • Understand how to use the HRIS, including how to look up employee information, how to change employee information and how to process reports in the HRIS
  • Support the HRIS by ensuring information that is entered is accurate and timely
  • Assist management and employees with the HRIS workflows and best practices when submitting changes and information into the system
  • Understand Occupational Safety and Health requirements and escalate any concerns to HR Management
  • Understand labor laws and regulations to assure CBE is adhering to appropriate policies and procedures, including employee relations
  • Maintain accuracy in all handouts and forms that are distributed to CBE employees and keep them up to date.
  • Review CBE Online Intranet to maintain the accuracy of data that is on the Human Resources page.
  • Assist in planning employee related events, such as company activities, employee benefit trainings, annual trainings, etc.
  • Prepare reports as necessary for statistical information relating to CBE employees, such as staffing, tenure and termination reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate in working with employees on personnel related matters. Adhere to all Data Privacy Act regulations.
  • Ability to take initiative and complete assignments, after initial direction, to completion.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned by the Director, Human Resources.

    • Must be able to exchange accurate information with co-workers, consumers and/or clients or vendors who have work related inquiries.
    • Must be able to communicate with applicants and maintain compliance with all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
