General Function:

As a User Experience Designer on the Consumer Product Design team, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of Fifth Third Bank's digital experiences across our consumer banking platforms-including our JD Power award-winning mobile app, online banking, and primary marketing website. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Digital Product, Design & Brand, Marketing, and Customer Experience to deliver intuitive, data-informed, and user-centered solutions. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in a collaborative, agile environment and is passionate about creating best-in-class experiences that make everyday banking easier and more delightful for our customers.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. This position acts as the liaison between the Risk, Audit and Analytic teams. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product owners, designers, and researchers to design intuitive, accessible, and engaging experiences across mobile, web, and marketing platforms.
  • Apply design thinking, story mapping, and iterative design techniques to solve complex user problems.
  • Create deliverables such as user flows, wireframes, site maps, and interactive prototypes to communicate design intent.
  • Collaborate with user research to validate concepts and ensure solutions are grounded in customer insights and behavioral data.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure high-quality implementation of design solutions.
  • Advocate for design excellence and share best practices across the team.
  • Stay curious and invested in understanding our customers, continuously seeking opportunities to improve their banking experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or certification in UX Design, Interaction Design, Human-Centered Design, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience designing digital products, preferably in consumer-facing applications.
  • A portfolio showcasing strong UX design skills, including examples of user-centered design processes and outcomes.
  • Ability to clearly articulate design decisions and rationale, especially when informed by data and research.
  • Familiarity with agile product development and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills-both written and verbal-with attention to detail and project ownership.
  • Experience with design thinking methodologies and a passion for continuous learning.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS is a plus.
  • Understanding of usability, accessibility, and responsive design best practices.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
