Project Delivery Leader, Transportation

At RK&K, we are hiring a Project Delivery Leader with the vision, experience, and drive to lead the technical aspects of our transportation projects. This position will be based in our Fairfax, VA office, and the candidate may work with other offices of the company. As a Project Delivery Leader at RK&K, you will partner with our expert engineers, planners, designers, and support staff to deliver world class engineering solutions to state, federal and local government customers.

Essential Functions

• Lead and contribute design expertise on transportation planning and design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment.
• Lead and mentor engineering and technician staff on transportation planning and/or design tasks.
• Manage multidiscipline planning and design teams
• Incorporate the latest technology and innovation into projects.
• Engage in quality management process for deliverables.
• Interfaces with client's and/or teaming partners technical managers
• Advise and support teams in the preparation construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
• Understand AASHTO and FHWA design standards and other design manuals and guidelines including the VDOT Plan Development Process

Required Skills and Experience

• Fifteen (15) years or more of experience in transportation/roadway engineering supporting Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and/or local municipalities.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
• Eagerness and passion for leading complex highway design projects and creating lasting technical solutions.
• Expertise in Microstation / Geopak / InRoads/ Open Roads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Willingness to teach and mentor design staff on the technical aspects of roadway design projects.
• Virginia Professional Engineering Registration (PE).

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Twenty five (25) years or more experience in transportation/roadway engineering supporting Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and/or local municipalities.
• Virginia Department of Transportation or local county/city agency experience
• Experience with FTA funding and project development requirements.
• Expertise in Microstation / Geopak / Open Roads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Alternative project delivery experience is a plus.
