GEAR UP Coordinator

Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina, UNC Asheville is the designated public liberal arts campus in the University of North Carolina system. Typical hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with extensive travel to partner school districts, Appalachian State University and council meetings as necessary. Occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight stays on campus during summer months will be required to meet the needs of this position and the grant. Work for this position may at times involve after hours meetings and events.

The GEAR UP Coordinator will supervise and coordinate all University pre-college outreach programs under the GEAR UP grant, which includes facilitating the Junior Bulldog Program. The GEAR Up Coordinator must be a collaborative self-starter who has the ability to bridge organizational (internal and external) boundaries.

UNC Asheville is a partner institution on Appalachian State University's Gaining Early Awareness of Undergraduate Programs ( GEAR UP) grant. This position serves as the lead for GEAR UP and serves as the University's campus liaison for all grant partners.

The GEAR Up Coordinator will be empowered to develop strategic programming and resources that strengthen UNC Asheville's focus on college access and success.

A Bachelor's degree and three to four years of directly related experience in a University and/or public school setting is required.
