Description

TheDepartment of Radiologyat theUCLA Health David Geffen School of Medicineis seeking a strategic and experiencedDirector of Academic Human Resourcesto lead all HR operations, initiatives, and programs supporting a diverse and distinguished academic and clinical department.

Reporting to department leadership, this role provides comprehensive HR oversight for approximately200 facultyacross multiple clinical sites (including RRUMC, SMH, MLKCH, LBMH, Olive View/UCLA, WLAVA, and Harbor/UCLA), as well as60 academic appointees, 83 trainees (residents and fellows), and 500 staff members.

In this key leadership position, you will shape and implementacademic and staff HR strategiesthat advance the department's mission, vision, and goals. You will oversee a team of10 HR professionalsand7 Education Program Office (EPO) staff, ensuring excellence in recruitment, onboarding, academic and staff personnel administration, employee relations, compensation, training, compliance, and performance management.

Serving as the primaryacademic HR liaisonfor the department, you'll collaborate closely with theDean's Office, Graduate Medical Education (GME), School of Medicine HR, UCLA Health HR, and other institutional partners to ensure alignment with university policies, collective bargaining agreements, and accreditation requirements. You'll also oversee the preparation and submission of key professional and institutional surveys (AAARAD, AAMC, SCARD, MGMA, ACGME, and others).

Salary: $8,808.33 - $19,541.67 monthly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of University academic and staff personnel and payroll policies and procedures.
  • Skill in creating and maintaining information systems related to personnel data and reporting needs.
  • Working knowledge of University accounting procedures to accurately develop faculty salary distributions for payroll purposes.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines, changing priorities, and deal with sensitive personnel issues.
  • Experience in counseling and mediating personnel conflicts.
  • 5 years of experience working in and/or managing an HR environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in all phases of the School of Medicine academic personnel policies, Departmental Practice Plan, budgets, benefits, and academic personnel issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with all levels of faculty and staff; to give and receive information and clarify policy according to University and Departmental guidelines.
  • Skill, knowledge, and ability to direct and implement the compilation of all academic personnel actions regarding appointment processing, payroll, visas and licensure, and benefits.
  • Math skills to analyze and execute the computation of academic personnel salaries based on many types of funding.
  • Skill and knowledge to plan details for administrative studies; determine and locate sources for collecting information; review, analyze, and summarize reports.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree and HRCI certification strongly preferred
