The QA/QC Technician is responsible for managing, reviewing, verifying and archiving test documentation submitted by Field Service Technicians, project managers and other contributors. Working closely with field teams delivering electrical power solutions, the QA/QC Technician ensures all test reports, daily logs and records for equipment like transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, relays and conductors meet customer specifications, company procedures, NETA standards, and applicable industry regulations (e.g., IEEE). This role is pivotal in upholding data integrity, facilitating timely project closeouts, and delivering accurate documentation to internal stakeholders and customers-ultimately supporting the reliability and compliance of critical power systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance & Document Management
  • Oversee intake, organization, review, and secure storage of testing documents (e.g., power factor, TTR, winding resistance, VLF Tan Delta, Partial Discharge, contact resistance test reports) in dedicated systems, ensuring compliance with work instructions, customer requirements, and standards like ANSI/NETA ATS/MTS.
  • Verify completeness, accuracy, and technical validity of test data, calculations and narratives; flag discrepancies, non-conformances, or errors for correction.
  • Track document status, turnaround times, and follow-ups to prevent delays in project deliverables.
  • Maintain audit-ready records and prepare packages for customer submission or internal audits.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with Field Service Technicians, managers and customers to resolve documentation issues, clarify test results, and expedite approvals.

  • Review and approve daily reports, administrative paperwork, and job completion summaries for accuracy and timeliness.

  • Provide clear, professional feedback on documentation gaps via email, calls, or virtual meetings.

Training & Support

  • Develop and deliver training sessions for field personnel on documentation best practices, data entry standards, test report templates, and compliance requirements.

  • Create user-friendly guides, checklists, and resources to standardize submissions and reduce errors.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend enhancements to documentation workflows or tools.

  • Support root cause analysis for quality issues and track corrective actions.

  • 1+ year of experience in quality assurance/control, document management, or technical review-preferably in electrical testing, power systems, or field services.

  • Strong technical aptitude with familiarity in electrical testing procedures (e.g., insulation resistance, hipot, relay testing) and industry standards (NETA, IEEE).

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel for data analysis a plus), Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, Procore).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical audiences.

  • High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field preferred.

  • Certifications such as NETA Level I/II or ASQ CQA a plus.
